Elise tutored me in organic chemistry 1 and 2, and she helped me every step of the way. I went from barely knowing organic chemistry to it being one of my favorite subjects to learn. She is patient, encourages questions, and makes sure you understand the concept. She really engages the student to think and answer themselves by providing enough guidance. Also, she is super knowledgeable when it comes to the concept, mechanisms, and the step by step process of organic chemistry. I wish I had a tutor like her in all my other materials.

Engaging, successful support for a tutor-skeptical student

My (11th grade) son is in AP Chemistry. He has been reasonably successful throughout his classes until this year without putting in much extra work. This class was a tipping point, though, and it became clear he'd need extra help. He resisted the idea of a tutor for a while, but we finally prevailed on him to give it a try. Elise already had great reviews and availability that fit my son's schedule, and she's been the very best thing for him. Elise is energetic, thorough, and empowering. She cut right through his reticence about being tutored and helped him understand the material and solve more problems on his own. After a few weeks with Elise, my son's grades are up. He's more confident about his ability to learn when the going gets tough. I could hardly be happier with his experience. Elise is and excellent teacher and coach, and I enthusiastically recommend her.

Incredibly patient, kind, helpful tutor

I've had Elise as my organic chemistry tutor for the past two semester (for ochem 1 and ochem 2) and she has genuinely been such an AMAZING help. When I first started ochem, I knew I'd be lost in the large amount of information, which is why I started being tutored by Elise. She is so kind, patient, understanding, and helpful. She manages to find a way to make the difficult reactions understandable and easy (as easy as ochem can get). I usually have a hard time getting help with classes, but she managed to work with my brain so well. Throughout ochem, it became easier and easier to understand the patterns of the reactions so that the next set of reactions wouldn't be as bad. Elise is so sweet and encouraging too. She made me feel so confident about my own knowledge and understanding, which ended up helping me for future problem-solving. She'd let me have a few minutes to try out a reaction sequence to see how far I'd get, and if I struggled, she never hesitated to help. There were also points where she offered and gave some of her own resources for reactions so that I could study them better, and gave me study tips so that when I studied on my own for exams, it would be easier to retain the information. Elise knows chemistry so well and manages to explain it in a digestible way. I appreciate her SO much. After every lesson I'd literally sigh in relief as the information makes more sense and I'd feel so much more at ease. She has been an amazing help and I can't even fully describe how much she has helped. I HIGHLY recommend her to anyone struggling with organic chemistry (whether it's getting help with a certain set of reactions, or trying to learn and understand multiple concepts).
