I continued my study of education by completing my Master's Degree in Reading at the State University College at Buffalo. Having a literacy degree has helped me understand the ways in students effectively learn and develop as language learners. To advance my language learning, I returned to the State university at Buffalo to complete my Spanish degree. I am NYS certified to teach French, Spanish and Reading.
Teaching is my passion! I teach French and Spanish, but I love languages in general. I've been teaching for 25 years, and I have worked with students of all ages. I've worked with small groups in summer school and tutored one on one. I love being able to encourage students, and give them a positive experience learning a language. I get great satisfaction from seeing my students grow in a language, gain confidence and see their grades improve. As a tutor, I work on all four language skills: reading, writing, listening and speaking. This allows the power of communication to come alive for me students. My lessons are effective and creative. I use authentic materials, such as texts, websites, and videos to engage my students. I think learning a language is fun, because it's not just learning grammar. It involves learning about people, culture and other countries. It is like a wonderful adventure!
