Greetings from the galactic interwebs! My name is Mariah, and I am a teacher based in Buffalo, New York, with over ten years of classroom experience.
After teaching Social Studies, English and Geography for my first six years in the City of Buffalo, I found my teaching home at Amherst Central School District. There, I taught 8th grade Social Studies for four years in the middle school. Next year, I'm excited to begin my eleventh year as an educator at Amherst Central High School, where I'll teach 9th and 12th grade Social Studies!
I've spent most of my career in secondary education, but I love working with students of all ages. I hold three NYSED teaching certificates: Social Studies (Grades 7–12), Childhood Education (Grades 1–6), and Early Childhood Education (Birth–Grade 2).
I love working with learners of all ages to strengthen their academic skills, organize key ideas, and gain major confidence as thoughtful communicators.
My approach to instruction is highly rigorous, and structured for parents and students to see measurable growth. By setting the expectation of effort and consistency, we can make way for lots of creativity, curiosity and fun.
Whether your child needs academic support, test prep, summer enrichment, or simply to build self-assurance in their own ability to learn, I’m here to help!
