About Michael

Bio

My name is Michael, and I am a MD/PhD candidate at the Jacobs School of Medicine at the University at Buffalo. I have passed USMLE Step 1, the first medical board exam, and have tutored medical students on all preclinical topics. I have also leveraged what I learned earning a composite 521 MCAT score to counsel premedical students. With my experience with content review and practice exams, I know how to succeed with the MCAT’s specific format.

I have also leveraged what I learned earning a composite 521 MCAT score to counsel premedical students. With my experience with content review and practice exams, I know how to succeed with the MCAT’s specific format.

My passion for teaching began in high school, where I privately tutored math and physics for high schoolers. In college, I worked with a volunteer group for 3 years teaching my peers biochemistry. With a mix of in-person and online tutoring, I have learned what works for each medium. With my experience with many different age groups, I am sure that I can help you no matter your stage of education.

My tutoring process is the result of years of experimentation and working with hundreds of students with different learning styles. I start by finding out how you learn best, and we will work together to determine the best learning method for you, tailoring the curriculum to fit you. I will then create resources that cover high-yield topics and work through practice questions with you to ensure you have a good foundation. I hope my qualifications showcase my experience and demonstrate that we can work together to help improve your understanding.

I am well-versed in physics, math, and biology due to my college coursework and medical subjects through my medical school coursework. I have taken physics courses covering calculus, quantum mechanics, and electromagnetism. I have taken biology courses covering neurobiology, biochemistry, and immunology. I have taken medical courses on all organ systems, anatomy, and ethics.

I understand how discouraging it is to be stuck on a concept, so I strive to be easily reachable and respond quickly. I believe that every student can succeed with the right mentoring, and I am excited to guide you through the subjects troubling you.

Approved Subjects

Algebra 1

Algebra 1

I have extensive practice using and teaching Algebra 1 concepts through tutoring high school and middle school age students. These concepts are also constantly refreshed through my current work as a PhD student. From my experience, I have learned to optimize teaching through lectures, sample questions, and active participation.
MCAT

MCAT

I have studied extensively for the MCAT over the past year and have scored a composite 521 on test day. By performing content review and taking many practice exams from different companies, I know how to succeed with the MCAT's specific format. With this score, I have been accepted to an MD-PhD program. I hope to pass on what I've learned from my studies and help my students attain their target scores.
Physics

Physics

I took 4 years of college courses on physics, covering all standard subjects. These include mechanics, electricity and magnetism, thermodynamics, and quantum mechanics.
USMLE

USMLE

I have taken and passed USMLE Step 1 on my first try. On multiple benchmark exams from the NBME, I have always maintained a 99% probability of passing, indicating I scored at least 1 standard deviation above other medical students. I studied extensively using UWorld, Anki, and other common resources, know how to maximize the benefit of each, and have spent the last year teaching other medical students to do the same.
