Effective English and Math Tutor for Elementary Students

I am a NYC public school teacher with 13 years of experience working with students at the elementary level and special needs. I am offering remote tutoring in math, reading and/or writing after school. My years of experience, love for teaching, and desire to motivate students make me an excellent choice to tutor your child. I am familiar with multiple learning styles in math and believe in the importance of teaching your child multiple strategies in order to boost his or her confidence. I teach math with a step by step approach and help students use the tools they already possess to help them improve their skills and confidence.

Developing a child’s ability to put their thoughts down on paper is a skill I pride myself on. We'll use graphic organizers, sentence starters, and other strategies to help students translate what they know from pencil to paper, whether we are free writing or following an essay format. If I am to help your child with reading, we would spend time focusing on the plot of a story and identifying new and challenging vocabulary words. Reading would happen at your child’s pace in order to build their overall comprehension skills with stop-and-think question techniques, graphic organizers, and discussion, while also learning about different elements of reading, such as author's purpose, character traits, and more.

Not only will your child improve his or her reading, writing, or math skills with me, but your child will also enjoy learning. Together, we can make it a fun experience that will help them feel more prepared for school each day!
