My name is Alejandro. I am a graduate of New York University where I majored in Neuroscience and minored in Psychology while completing my pre-health curriculum. I have worked as a tutor during high school for the HSPT, as a research assistant at an NYU Rheumatology laboratory, as well an Emergency Medical Technician with Senior Care in here in NYC
My passion for tutoring began in high School when I was an HSPT tutor for other kids entering High school. I continued this work till my senior year, when I took on a month long tutoring assignment with underprivileged kids in East Los Angeles at Santa Teresita Elementary where I was a teaching assistant for second and eighth grade students.
I have at times been disappointed with teachers during my education who were incredibly smart and successful in their fields, yet lacked the ability to communicate their knowledge to students learning a concept for the first time. I can promise my patience and understanding as well as guarantee that I will be able to explain topics in a clear and judgement-free manner.
I got a 34/36 on the ACT, and scored in the 90th percentile for the MCAT which earned me a spot at TouroCOM; it took hard work to have the skills that I have today. I am a firm believer that success in the classroom is so misunderstood; I think anybody can understand any topic if they are willing to be honest with themselves about their current knowledge and work hard at improvement.
Beyond the classroom I love the outdoors, I go hiking, snowboarding, rock climb and train Brazilian jujitsu when I'm not studying. I live with my girlfriend Clea and my cat Moose in Park Slope, Brooklyn.
