Greetings! I'm currently a fourth-year MD medical student, and I graduated from NYU majoring in Biochemistry and minoring in Mathematics and Japanese in 2021 for undergrad. With an overall GPA of 3.8, I was inducted into the Phi Lambda Upsilon Chemistry Honor Society at NYU. I served on the admission committee with my medical school last cycle and I participated, for the third year, in NYU's PPMP mentorship program for those applying to medical school. I'll be happy to review any primary/secondary application and practice mock interviews for med school admission.

Starting as a junior at Stuyvesant High School in NYC, I volunteered as a tutor with StuyPrep, a program that helps low-income middle school students with the SHSAT test prep. After two years with StuyPrep, I moved on to Kizuna Across Culture (KAC), a global program connecting high school students from Japan and the US. As an intern leader and a summit mentor with KAC, I facilitated the discussion of language and culture for the past five years and will continue in the future. I was also employed with NYU Tandon School's TRIO program to provide personalized one-on-one tutoring in various subjects. With TRIO, I served as an on-site math tutor, ranging from precalculus to Linear Algebra for Late-Night drop-in students.

With more than ten years of tutoring experience, I have worked with diverse students. As a student, I understand the frustration of learning an unfamiliar subject. Learning from numerous teachers, mentors, and tutors, I grasped the crucial skills of what makes a good tutor. I will work closely with students to find their personalized learning style for maximum efficacy in learning.

Please don't hesitate to reach out and learn more. I promise to be always honest, open, optimistic, and respectful of all my students. Looking forward to meeting/working with you!

“Best tutor I’ve had”

We have used Wyzant in the past and have had some very good tutors for my daughter, but after working with YiJia for the first time today, my daughter said YiJia was the absolute best and was especially good at helping her understand the subject (Chemistry in this case). So glad we found YiJia here!!

Excellent Tutor

Both my kids had a session with her, and they were quick to express just how excellent she is. We feel incredibly fortunate to have found such a highly responsive, highly skilled, and deeply dedicated tutor. She explains things very well and she seems to be fantastic, and we highly recommend her and look forward to using her more.

Knowledgeable and Patient

My son started using YiJia for chemistry and geometry. His exact words; “she explains the work better than my teachers.” He immediately saw results when he received his highest test score for the year in chemistry. Highly recommended!

Informative and organized tutor

Yijia did a great job walking me through college level gen chem. She is very knowledgeable, easy going, and organized. She is able to break hard concepts into easier ways for me to digest. She also provided me with homework which was helpful.
