Hi, I’m Arif—an internal medicine resident physician and passionate educator.
Teaching has been central to who I am for as long as I can remember. Even back in middle school, I learned best by studying with others. That instinct grew into a long-standing commitment to teaching, leading me to tutor across a wide range of subjects, from mathematics and chemistry to medical school coursework and board exams. Along the way, I realized something important: I don’t just love learning—I love helping others learn well.
I graduated from the University of Rochester in 2019 with degrees in Molecular Genetics, Mathematics, and Religion, earning honors for excellence in biology and teaching. I went on to complete my MD at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University, graduating in the top quartile of my class with recognition for scholastic achievement. I successfully completed all three USMLE Step exams with above-average scores and began my Internal Medicine residency at NYU Langone Hospital in 2023. Early in residency, I was recognized for outstanding clinical excellence—an experience that solidified my goal of pursuing a career in academic hospital medicine.
What truly sets me apart as a tutor is my learner-centered approach. No two students are the same, and I tailor every session to your background, goals, and learning style. Whether we’re mastering preclinical concepts or preparing for high-stakes exams like the USMLE, I focus on building deep understanding and practical test-taking skills. For board exams, we’ll break down question-writer logic, common traps, pacing strategies, and high-yield frameworks—so you don’t just know the material, but know how to apply it confidently on exam day.
Subjects I currently tutor include:
• Preclinical medical school coursework
• Internal Medicine shelf exam
• USMLE Step 1, Step 2, and Step 3 (with a strong emphasis on Internal Medicine)
If you’re looking for a tutor who is knowledgeable, supportive, and invested in your progress, I’d be honored to work with you!
