My name is Alex and I’m a screenwriting tutor who loves to work with beginning students who are eager to learn the principles of screenwriting as well as with more experienced screenwriters who dream of taking that great idea or existing draft and making it the completed script they dream it can be!
My approach to tutoring is to take an individualistic approach to lessons, working to identify and value the unique voice of each student in order to install the confidence as well as the screenwriting craft to help you create that original, compelling screenplay that will grab and hold industry attention. I have experience working across all genres and formats (feature films, short films and television series), so whatever your idea, I want to help you realize it to its, and your, full potential.
I have been tutoring in screenwriting for 10 years, teaching screenwriting to all levels and ages at esteemed institutions such as New York Film Academy, the Australian Film Television Radio School and Sydney’s Macquarie University where I headed the introductory and advanced screenwriting courses. At last count I have worked with over 1200 screenwriting students.
As a filmmaker I have had my short films screen at 100 film festivals worldwide including the prestigious Toronto International Film Festival, received dozens of awards and have over 5 million views online. I was a semi finalist of both the Sundance Screenwriter Lab and Academy Nicholl Fellowship for 2019 and received grants from both Screen Australia’s Talent Escalator and Hot Shots programs as well as being the inaugural winner of the Lexus Australia Short Film Fellowship. In addition to this recognition I have undertaken attachments with Oscar Nominated director Bruce Beresford and legendary New York production company, Killer Films.
