If you need support in writing, I'm your girl! I'm a seasoned tutor with nearly a decade of experience, back on Wyzant after a long time away from the site. I graduated from a highly ranked liberal arts college with both general and departmental honors. I began tutoring at my college’s writing center, where I consulted on hundreds of undergraduate papers and was ultimately promoted to head tutor. In the years since, I've served as the lead teacher of a Sylvan Learning center, designed curricula and taught courses for a boutique after-school enrichment program, and assessed thousands of student essays during my time at The Writing Revolution, an education nonprofit based here in New York.

Regardless of what I'm teaching, my aim is the same: to empower each student with the capability, drive, and confidence to conquer their learning goals. School is a drag if you don't care about the work; I partner with students in exploring their personal answer to the question, "Why bother?"

I work with writers of all ages and experiences, from elementary schoolers to PhD candidates. When we first meet, the student and I have a conversation about goals and interests, allowing me to tailor my approach. I will never complete an assignment for a student. I'm happy to proofread, but I'm even happier to help nail a killer thesis and lock down a logical structure. Students leave each session more prepared to tackle their current project and those to come.

If you're interested in working with me or have any questions, please reach out. **I can help at any stage in the writing process, but early interventions during brainstorming or outlining prevent the most frustration.**

A final note: everyone deserves access to educational resources. If my rate is out of your budget, let me know—we can likely figure out a payment plan that works for all involved.

Knows her stuff! Patient, fun, and communicative writing tutor

I am incredibly grateful for Jamie's support with my 5th grader's writing. He initially struggled with the demands of a writing-intensive curriculum at his new school, but Jamie's patience and expertise have made a remarkable difference. Her deep knowledge of The Writing Revolution (also known as the Hochman Method) has been invaluable. She has used its explicit and structured approach to guide him through assignments and help him catch up on foundational skills. Over the weeks, I’ve watched his confidence and proficiency grow, to the point where he now tackles writing tasks independently. What I especially appreciate is how well Jamie communicates with me to develop writing activities that align with the science curriculum we use in our homeschool. It’s been amazing to see him blossom into a more capable and self-assured writer. Jamie is currently assisting him with personal essays for a school application, and I couldn’t be more thankful for her help.

Excellent tutor for my ADD child

Jamie makes my son feel comfortable while challenging him to see the bigger picture of what needs to get done. She has been helpful in breaking down the tasks and accomplishing goals to get caught up in his freshman college courses.

Very helpful and patient!

I needed help with my essays for applying for a coding program. Jamie did not only proofread my essays to fix errors on grammar and punctuation but also listened to me patiently to figure out what I really wanted to write. I strongly recommend Jamie to anyone if you need help with writing, proofreading, and editing. She is wonderful!
