I bring a strong foundation in education and student-centered teaching to my work as a tutor. I taught middle school Math, Special Education, and English for 2 years while earning my Master’s in Teaching. I specialize in bridging the gaps between what students already know and grade level expectations, and supporting them through math anxiety. I tutor students in upper elementary through early high school. Before teaching, I studied Public Policy with a minor in Education at the University of Chicago, where I also tutored students and supported at an afterschool for Kindergarteners. My passion has always been expanding access to excellent education, and I approach tutoring with a deep commitment to helping each student feel capable, supported, and challenged.

As a tutor, I focus on building strong relationships and creating an environment where students feel empowered to ask questions, and take ownership of their own learning. I use a mix of visuals, real-world examples, and students’ personal interests to make learning accessible and engaging. A typical session includes a check-in, a warm-up, guided practice with new or challenging material, ending with student-led reflection to ensure mastery.

What sets me apart is my ability to balance structure with flexibility and adapt in real time to meet student needs. I can support homework, review class content, or design personalized lessons that target specific skill gaps. As a tutor, I am dedicated not just to helping students complete assignments or earn better grades, but to deepening genuine understanding, building confidence, and developing academic skills. In my current role at a nonprofit, I support first-generation college students through career development and mentorship, but I’m excited to connect with students one-on-one to develop those meaningful relationships where the most impactful learning can happen.

As a teacher, I loved designing innovative lessons to help students build genuine understanding of topics that stump 6th and 7th graders. My approach is to make the topics relevant to the student and engaging, and to build confidence over time. I designed lessons and projects to teach operations with fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions, solving simple algebraic equations, exponents and order of operations, geometry, and an intro to statistics. These are my favorite topics to teach and this content is a turning point for learners to excel in their high school math careers.
