I bring a strong foundation in education and student-centered teaching to my work as a tutor. I taught middle school Math, Special Education, and English for 2 years while earning my Master’s in Teaching. I specialize in bridging the gaps between what students already know and grade level expectations, and supporting them through math anxiety. I tutor students in upper elementary through early high school. Before teaching, I studied Public Policy with a minor in Education at the University of Chicago, where I also tutored students and supported at an afterschool for Kindergarteners. My passion has always been expanding access to excellent education, and I approach tutoring with a deep commitment to helping each student feel capable, supported, and challenged.
As a tutor, I focus on building strong relationships and creating an environment where students feel empowered to ask questions, and take ownership of their own learning. I use a mix of visuals, real-world examples, and students’ personal interests to make learning accessible and engaging. A typical session includes a check-in, a warm-up, guided practice with new or challenging material, ending with student-led reflection to ensure mastery.
What sets me apart is my ability to balance structure with flexibility and adapt in real time to meet student needs. I can support homework, review class content, or design personalized lessons that target specific skill gaps. As a tutor, I am dedicated not just to helping students complete assignments or earn better grades, but to deepening genuine understanding, building confidence, and developing academic skills. In my current role at a nonprofit, I support first-generation college students through career development and mentorship, but I’m excited to connect with students one-on-one to develop those meaningful relationships where the most impactful learning can happen.
