I am a freelance portrait and commercial photographer as well as photo retoucher with 9 years of experience working within the photo industry. I received my BFA in Photography from the School of Visual Arts in New York City. I started tutoring while in school, and I found that it is very rewarding to share knowledge and help others learn and grow.

Mastering the technical aspect of photography can seem daunting, and I was very fortunate to have great teachers to help me. I hope to do the same for you, whether you are a hobbyist or thinking of pursuing a career as a photographer!

The following are lessons I cover for Photography, Adobe Lightroom, Adobe Photoshop, CaptureOne, and Professional Practices in Photo.

In Photography lessons, I can cover everything from basic Camera Functions (manual mode: aperture, shutter speed, ISO settings, White Balance) to using Accessories such as lens filters. I teach Location Lighting (natural lighting, reflectors, speedlites) as well as Strobe Lighting and the Photo Studio. Additionally, we can work on building a photography portfolio and printing.

In Lightroom lessons, I cover Basic Adjustments (Exposure, Temperature, Hue/Saturation), Removing Camera Distortion, Gradients and Effects, Collections, Cataloguing, Batch Editing, Exporting Photos, and more. I also create organization systems for Lightroom Catalogs when working between multiple computers and external hard drives.

In Photoshop lessons, I cover basic to advanced skills such as Color Editing, non-destructive Skin Editing, Background Editing, Jewelry Editing, Photo Manipulation, Plugins/Actions, and more.

Additional Professional Practices are for those interested in entering a career in photography include Shooting Tethered, CaptureOne, Fashion Photography, and Advanced Fashion and Portrait Retouching (advanced techniques such as frequency separation and liquify).

I am excited to help you learn! Let me know what topics you are interested in, and we can come up with a customized course.

Holly, 1 lesson with Hannah

Knowledgeable but also knows how to convey the knowledge. She started by fixing my settings in my catalog on Lightroom.

She started by fixing and tweaking my catalog and the settings on Lightroom. Then she moved on to some shortcuts and quicker ways to process my work. We ended by editing a few pictures and coming up with a plan for the next lesson. Highly, highly recommend her.

Picture Developing

Hannah was very helpful for showing me the basics in lightroom and photoshop. Also guiding me on how to improve my pictures by learning the functions and mainly practicing to learn more on developing my eyes for detailing along with developing noise reduction in the pictures.
