I studied chemical engineering in college, but now my professional work is in mechanical engineering. I taught engineering thermodynamics as an adjunct professor at the university level for 3 years. After finding the size of lecture classes too big to make a meaningful impact, I decided to focus on teaching and tutoring in smaller group settings. I emphasize developing a real understanding of a topic rather than doing enough to just get by on your test. Students who learn to understand rather than to get by tell me they retain their knowledge for much longer. I love tutoring because I know that I am making an impact on a learner's growth so they can advance their careers and achieve their goals.

I did very well in math topics throughout high school, undergraduate, and graduate studies. Most of my tutoring to date is in math intensive fields, such as engineering or finance.

I have extensive experience with computers for my professional work.

My weekday hours are for online tutoring sessions only. I am available on weekends for both online or in-person sessions. Please let me know if there is a specific topic that you need tutoring, the subjects listed are very broad, and I can more accurately judge if I can help you.

What are your goals? Don't hesitate to contact me if you need tutoring to achieve your goals.

Solidworks,

Solidworks

As a product design engineer, I have more than 5000 hours experience with Solidworks since version 2006. I am able to model using traditional methods such as solid body modeling, surface modeling, or sheet metal operations. I am fully experienced with creating parts, assemblies, and drawings with BOMs. I can teach bottom-up or top-down design for assemblies.

My areas of tutoring expertise are in free body diagrams, kinematics, conservation of energy problems, conservation of momentum problems, rotational problems, oscillations, and solving differential equations. I may be able to help in other areas, but please inquire first to confirm that I can help you effectively.

Chemical Engineering,

Chemical Engineering

I have completed both a BS in Chemical Engineering and an Masters of Engineering in Chemical Engineering. I have previously tutored 1-on-1 in all subjects in the field, including graduate level courses intended for PhD students in chemical engineering: material and energy balances, chemical reactor design, unit operations, plant design, heat exchanger design, polymer technologies, transport phenomena, thermodynamics for chemical engineers, and heat and mass transfer. Tutoring methods include reviewing textbook derivations from fundamental principals (since most textbooks skip intermediate steps) and reviewing assigned homework problems.
Mechanical Engineering,

Mechanical Engineering

My mechanical engineering expertise from my studies and work is in the subjects of thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid dynamics. I can size pumps and motors, and solve 1D, 2D, 3D, and partial differential equations . There are some other topics in mechanical engineering seeing that are NOT a good fit for me to tutor: materials science, materials engineering, structures engineering, dynamic systems, multibody systems, space dynamics, vibrations, tensors, or control theory.

Amazing tutor

He was great at teaching me thermodynamics. He explained everything very throughly and took his time while do the examples. I would recommend him when doing these types of equations for physics problems.

The Ideal Tutor

I'm currently pursuing a Master's of Science in Chemical Engineering. My undergraduate degree is in Chemistry so I needed tutoring when I took Transport Phenomena in Summer 2020. Michael was patient, knowledgeable and creative in helping me understand the concepts. He always provided additional study resources. With Michael's help I was able to pass my class. I would recommend Michael to anyone looking for amazing tutor!

Excellent Tutor

Michael responded with in a few hours and was able to help my son with his CAD assignment that same day. He was patient and very knowledgeable about Solidworks. My son said he helped him have a better understanding of his assignment.

Amazing and highly qualified tutor!

My experience with Michael was great! He is an amazing tutor and I was very impressed with his level of knowledge. He is very intelligent and communicates his knowledge of the subject very well. While he mentioned that this was one of his first online sessions, I would not have known as it was very smooth and enjoyable. I was very comfortable with him as he is patient and understanding. His experience in academia benefited me because he understands the curriculum and environment I was coming from. He was punctual and flexible. I appreciate and enjoyed his help and will undoubtedly be contacting him in the near future for further assistance. Thank you Michael.
