My motto is to do whatever it takes, whatever visuals are needed, whatever regimen we need to stick to that gets students the results that I know they are capable of. The benefit of my background is the ability to think outside the box. Just because every problem can be solved a particular way doesn't mean it has to be solved in that one way. Connecting your world outlook and skill to each challenge you face is my overarching objective.
I studied mathematics in undergraduate school ranging from number theory through calculus two. In my graduate studies, I have focused on Adolescent Education and methods of teaching Mathematics that bring the concepts out of the theoretical world of numbers into the physical world that students thrive within. Learning both the what and the why and applying that real understanding to every problem makes each student able to succeed no matter what question they face. I work in today's schools and I see the shifting common core standards that students have to keep up with daily. It is my professional duty to stay one step ahead of the standard makers in prepping my students.
In my current field of Mathematics Education, I spend as much time breaking down the language of questions as I do working in math as is often needed due to common core alignment. I have worked with Java, C#, and GML for five years understanding its underpinning languages prior to. Every programmatic problem has an infinite number of solutions but the answer boils down to having the right algorithm, the method that performs the task needed while handling system resources responsibly.
