I have a passion for helping students to achieve their academic goals. In the classroom, I insist with my students, "We are a team, and we will all succeed," and "We can all be Math People." I have four years of experience teaching Algebra 2 with results that fill me with pride for my students' accomplishments. During that time, I have worked with students from many different backgrounds.
Furthermore, I have experience helping students at every level in math: students who love math, students who don't love math, students who expect to fail in math. What these students all have in common is that they will improve when they practice hard and their skill and confidence levels increase. Students who work with me will grow in confidence.
When you hire me as your tutor, you have a fierce ally who is determined to make every minute of our work count as you achieve your goals and aim higher. Students will grow as they think for themselves with the comfort that an expert is determined to support them in reaching peak performance. I make every effort to make myself available between sessions to help answer quick questions, offer additional examples for practice, or to look at a homework problem that has a student stumped. When preparing for quizzes and exams, students will not be aloe.
A beautiful thing about Math is that there are many paths to the right answer. I will help you to hone the way that you prefer to work while offering alternative methods to do great work. Students' confidence levels will grow, and they will be expect to be successful as they learn what they need to do to achieve their goals.
In the classroom, I rarely use multiple choice questions so that students must show what they know. On the SAT, we work differently and treat the test more like a game to be won. My most recent student improved her math score from 590 to 700.
SAT Reading and Writing training is focused on helping you to improve your speed through an analytical approach. Pacing and learning how to trust your gut will lead to significant score gains. We will make your practice time count!
Recent essay coaching efforts were very successful, helping a student to improve from a score of 14 to a score of 18.
I am delighted to answer additional questions to help you find the tutor who is best for you. You have taken the first step by pursuing a tutor. Let's talk about your goals and decide if we should work together. I am determined to exceed your expectations as a tutor. As I said, I am a fierce ally for my students. Common Core Algebra 1 is a difficult course, and many students entering 9th grade are not fully prepared for it.
Because it is a new course, many teachers struggle to teach it in a way that makes it accessible to all students.
I have experience helping students at all levels to be successful in Algebra, and my experience in Geometry and Algebra 2 will help me to prepare students for what comes next.
Finally, I use SAT questions to reinforce our work so that students have already practices these types of questions and know how to approach them efficiently and with confidence.
We can ALL be Math People!
I have experience teaching and tutoring Geometry.
I use Common Core and SAT to plan my lessons and help students to train for thoroughness, accuracy, and speed.

We can ALL be Math People!
SAT Math is the topic where I have the most to offer as a tutor.
Your student will improve in test taking strategies, time management and the many topics that are tested.
The new SAT presents a new challenge because, among other things, there is a section that does not allow the use of a calculator.
There are many paths to the right answer. When the front door is locked and we don't have a key, we find another way in. Your student will learn to "break windows," in order to score the maximum number of points and make the most of every second.
SAT Reading is one of the most difficult topics to tutor.
Students need to learn to read the passages and the questions through a special lens.
Students also needs learn how to manage their time carefully, since, on the new SAT, you benefit from answering every question.
My coaching will help you to hone in on certain types of questions to attack them with specific strategies.
I look forward to hearing from you!
