I'm a veteran music producer & audio engineer, with 15 years of experience in Logic Pro. I'm a classical & jazz pianist, performer, and passionate music educator. Hailing from a rural Massachusetts town, my journey led me from San Francisco, to Oberlin College, to Brooklyn where I opened my first studio. I now operate my studio in upstate New York.

An outlier in the industry, I prioritize authenticity and craftsmanship over conformity. My diverse musical background allows me to craft unique sounds, as evidenced by my commercial successes and collaborations with artists like Cathedrals, Von Sell, AYER, and Jak Lizard.

With over a decade of production experience, I blend performance, recording, singing, writing, and analog synthesis to create professional-grade music. My teaching philosophy emphasizes collaborative learning and attentive guidance.

Piano holds a special place in my heart—I've trained since childhood, studied at Oberlin, and held a jazz residency in Brooklyn. Deeply steeped in jazz music theory and ear training, I've written across genres from pop to classical.

Music is a lifelong journey, and I'm dedicated to nurturing your love for it. Please reach out to discuss projects or inquiries—I'm here to support your musical endeavors.

Ear Training

Ear Training

I am a classically trained pianist with over 16 years of experience playing piano, writing music, singing and performing. Melodies are my greatest strength. Tutoring methods involve diads and triads, simple chords, simple inversions, and jazz chord recognition. A big part of ear training is writing and playing music. Creating music is strongly encouraged!
Music Production

I have 20+ years of production experience, running studios in Brooklyn and upstate New York. Tutoring will be one-on-one online, working in Logic Pro together. Topics will include: songwriting, music theory, analog synthesis, production and arrangement, sampling, sound design.
Music Theory

Music Theory

I attended Oberlin College and Pyramind audio production school. I am a full-time recording artist, composer, and performer. I have 24 years of piano experience both in classical and jazz. I held a two-year Jazz residency at a Brooklyn nightclub called The Keep. I have taken numerous courses in music theory and I am always reading and studying on my own, because the knowledge is limitless and I am very curious and passionate about honing my craft. I have a deep and intuitive knowledge of the following: -sheet music -chord progressions -harmony and melody -reharmonization -chord voicings -scales -minor and major keys -modes -Advanced Jazz Theory -altered chords, tensions, modal mixing, slash chords
Piano

Piano

I'm a jazz & classical pianist with 25 years of experience playing piano, writing music, singing and performing. Most of my teaching is about creativity and love of music- music is all about emotion, it's all about connecting with the heart. We will learn how to practice, how to improvise, how to compose and most of all how to ENJOY the music and have fun, and let it flow from the heart.
Songwriting

Songwriting

I have been a passionate songwriter for the last 20 years of my life. I have written, recorded, produced, and released hundreds of my original compositions and songs over the span of my career. I've had a commercial successes with 20M+ streams. But the most important thing is writing from the heart! As artists we must always stay loose, create constantly, speak from the heart, and not be afraid to finish our songs and move on.

Amazing music teacher!

It’s been a great pleasure learning music with Harris. He is incredibly knowledgeable and full of passion for music, especially in the area of improvisation. His classes are not only informative but also truly enjoyable. I've learned so much from him — after just three lessons, I even composed a beautiful song on my own. I also really enjoy the way he communicates; Harris is always encouraging and supportive. I will definitely be back for more of his classes.

Favorite Tutor

I came to Harris as a beginner at Logic. Very patiently, he has been explaining very through and to the point methods for operating Logic Pro X. I have been learning so much in his class. He is also flexible, at the last minute he was able to switch my class to another day and I am very thankful. Not only does he teach you how to use Logic, but he also teaches best practices for recording. I have been implementing all of his tips and I have seen improvements in overall sound quality in my recording sessions. So far, I have taken 3 lessons with Harris, and I look forward to many more lessons. Select THIS tutor, and you will NOT be disappointed!

Great Logic Pro Lesson - Workflow, tips, etc.

Harris taught 'best practices' in terms of templates, workflow, navigation. I really like his style of teaching, as he listens to understand what you're trying to accomplish, and then offers suggestions and structure where needed. He also showed some great ways to build samples, and include into my workflow. I'm already looking at my calendar for the next lesson. As someone who has studies audio engineering, recording, mixing, for 5 years now, I can tell you Harris will add extreme value to your situation. Can't recommend him enough!!
