The best word that would describe my teaching style (for history, writing and grammar) is patience. There are numerous rules and devices when it comes to writing and grammar. With history, there can be an overload of information that can be very overwhelming without some way of knowing of processing it. In all of these subjects, I encourage students to take the time they need to think through a given passage of a history text, or a paragraph, sentence, or phrase to dissect and learn from it. It is about finding what skills a tutee already posses, what skills are needed, taking the time to develop those skills, and then increase speed of those skills through repeated use.
During my time in school and out of school, I have written hundreds of essays and articles. So composing essays and editing other people's writing over the past eight years has given me lots of experience in writing that has allowed me to come up with a very simple three-step process that will help you increase your comfort and confidence in writing. Along with my writing, I studied the language of Latin, which is the ultimate grammar teacher.
