Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Anthropology

My background in anthropology consists of both academic coursework and extensive work and travel experience abroad. I graduated Summa cum Laude from Rutgers with with a BA in Evolutionary and Cultural Anthropology. This includes a summer field study in Northern Kenya studying local nomadic communities and digging in archaeological sites. I have spent several years living outside the US, spending several months to a year in Indonesia, Uganda, India, Bosnia, Germany and England.

College Counseling

I have been successful in submitting my own college applications for Rutgers University, for my undergraduate, and both Oxford and Yale, where I was studied for my MSc and PhD, respectively. During my Senior year of undergraduate I worked with the Dean of Distinguished Fellowships and earned a Fulbright Grant in '09 and Humanity in Action Fellowship '10. I worked for one season with a student through UnCommon Apps, which has since closed. My student received early acceptance to their first choice.

Philosophy

I graduated summa cum laude from Rutgers University with a BA in Anthropology and Philosophy, with highest departmental honors in the latter. While there I founded the Rutgers Undergraduate Philosophy Journal. I have also completed one year on a PhD fellowship at Yale studying Philosophy. My main areas of expertise are philosophy of ethics, epistemology, and religion.

Psychology

I have an interdisciplinary Masters in Science degree from Oxford studying Comparative and International Education. My research focused on both sociology and psychology. I have tutored a number of psychology students, including working on the new Sociology and Psychology section of the MCAT.

Religion

My studies in philosophy and the social science have focused largely on issues regarding religion, though I have taken a variety of courses in or cross-listed with Religion departments. I have work and research experience with a variety of organizations. My MSc dissertation centered on religious conflict and dialogue among teachers and the curricula in Bosnia. I have also been a volunteer researcher with the UN NGO Committee on Freedom of Religion and Belief; an assistant researcher with the International Center for Religion and Diplomacy; the co-founder of the Yale Humanist Community (an NGO affiliated with Yale); and the national Director of the Humanism, Ethics, Logic, and Philosophy curriculum project with Camp Quest.

Social Studies

I have tutored social studies in the past with other educational agencies and have a comprehensive background on both domestic and international issues in anthropology, sociology, history, and political science.

I graduated summa cum laude with a BA in cultural anthropology from Rutgers and have a MSc in Sociology from Oxford. I have conducted research on a Humanity in Action Fellowship studying human rights and social issues in Germany and a Fulbright fellowship in Indonesia, and have also worked as a research assistant with think tanks in Washington DC and at the UN. I have also lived and worked abroad in the England, Bosnia, Kenya, Uganda, and India.

Sociology

I graduated summa cum laude from Rutgers University with a BA in Anthropology and have an MSc from Oxford University in Comparative and International Education, an interdisciplinary degree focusing on issues of sociology and psychology in education. I am also a Fulbright grantee (Indonesia) and a Humanity in Action Fellow (Germany). I have worked with a range of organizations, including as a volunteer researcher with the UN NGO Committee on Freedom of Religion and Belief and an assistant researcher with the International Center for Religion and Diplomacy.
