I am an Assistant Professor of Life Sciences at Imperial College London, with over 15 years experience teaching one-on-one science with students of all ages.
I graduated from Brown University with a degree in biology and completed my PhD at Columbia University in Biomedical Engineering. My undergraduate thesis was an in-depth project on cancer immunology. My graduate work was funded by the National Space Technology and Research Fellowship through NASA, and crosses the fields of DNA Nanotechnology and Synthetic Biology. As a NASA intern, iGEM graduate and PhD student, I designed a project to increase the conductivity of DNA for use in nanoelectronic biosynthesis for long-term space missions and under-resourced community laboratories. As a NASA fellow, I represented my work across the world, most notably at the United States Congress as a Space Technology program delegate for NASA.
I have been a taekwondo instructor, music teacher, dance instructor, and science tutor; and I have taught university level courses in chemistry, applied math and biomedical engineering. I hope to use the Wyzant platform to help others master the basic sciences and achieve their own career goals. Science is ultimately an art--a language--and through a careful but creative teaching style, I hope to translate and animate learning material to be engaging and easy for my students.
I'm here to help, and I can't wait to meet you!
