I'm currently a student at York College in Jamaica, Queens, in the physics department. I'm 24 years old and I move to the US from Israel 2.5 years ago. Following my relocation to the United States, I began working at Mount Zion synagogue where I served as an Inclusion Facilitator and Modern Hebrew Instructor. I provided one-on-one assistance to students with special needs through academic and emotional support. Additionally I taught high school students the fundamentals of Modern Hebrew. Shortly thereafter I also began teaching at Temple of Aaron Synagogue where I taught seventh grade students modern and conversational Hebrew. Having had the opportunity to work with and serve as a classroom instructor for multiple grade levels at both synagogues, I feel confident in my abilities to compose engaging lesson plans, provide appropriate follow up with students, parents, and religious school administration, and create a safe and comfortable learning space for students. After moving to New York I have had the wonderful opportunity of teaching at Kolot Chayeinu, Kane Street Synagogue, and Stephen Wise Free Synagogue. As both a Hebrew and Judaic Studies teacher, I compose daily lesson plans, provide parents with weekly summaries of what was covered in class, and work in collaboration with other religious school instructors to create curriculum that is interactive, fun, and rich in Jewish learning.
All the best,
Lior S.
