I first started teaching theater in my teenage years but after majoring in mathematics, I worked on textbooks, in science communication, and in curriculum development, as well as taught high school math for years. I tutor to support students through the journey of navigating the educational system that is not always laid out in such a way that is affirming or clear.
Education in important to me because I was not necessarily the most liked student growing up. I did well in school mostly because despite my teenage stubbornness, I found myself passionate about learning and it carried me through. Now I see the opportunity to help students by sharing that fervor with others. I take every student as an opportunity to make learning not something that they have to do, but rather something they want to do. Tutoring especially offers that opportunity because of the one-on-one nature of the relationship.
If you are a student who needs a little extra push to make the learning experience seem worthwhile, then I am the tutor for you. I will make math fun. I even love taking standardized tests - so I make that fun too. One of my hobbies is to find free standardized practice tests online and do them. I love to pass on that passion.
Also, I can provide references if needed as I have many happy clients who I still keep in touch with from years ago.
