In a collaborative way, I provide feedback spanning a wide range of writing concerns, from the nuts and bolts of sentence structure, spelling, vocabulary, and punctuation, to higher-level issues like focus, audience, purpose, organization, and development. My instruction is tailored to your project, to your course, if any, and to your language level.

I am a 2012 graduate of the TESLA certificate program at the Literacy Assistance Center in New York City. TESLA is Teaching English as a Second Language to Adults. A year before entering the program, I was already tutoring individual students and leading a weekly ESL conversation group at a public library.

While I no longer tutor in general ESL, that teaching experience has molded my expertise in assisting advanced English language learners with their writing projects. Perhaps you have mastered English as a second language but still need help with finer points. I will help you to attune vocabulary and syntax, for example, to be more effective with your readers. My mastery of colloquial English may be especially helpful if you are preparing a lecture or other oral presentation.

I prefer to work in person, but I am happy to work with you online if distance is a problem.

Since high school I have demonstrated strong ability in editing and writing. When I tutored adults in English as a Second Language, I often assisted students with editing their papers or other written projects. This is copy editing, although many call it proofreading. I completed a one-semester course in copy editing and proofreading at NYU's School of Continuing and Professional Studies. I also studied copy editing at a Mediabistro workshop in NYC. Although I no longer tutor ESL in general, I excel in helping advanced English language learners to edit their work.

My experience in the tutoring of writing is mainly with advanced, adult English language learners. My tutoring now centers on writing and editing in general; I assist high school and college students, as well as adults, with writing assignments and projects like lectures and blog posts. I don't write for you; I correct and polish in a collaborative way. My aim is always to strengthen your writing skills, your confidence, and your ability to edit your own work.

Besides being an incredible tutor, Bonnie is also an incredible human being.
