Hello, I'm Zara! I graduated from the University of Chicago in 2026 with a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology and Public Policy Studies and a Master of Public Policy with Honors. In addition to my studies, I have been teaching for the past eight years, including as a private tutor, debate coach, and undergraduate teaching assistant.

I always make the effort to connect with my students' learning styles and adapt my techniques to their needs. I am prepared to work with students with learning differences, including ADHD and challenges with executive functioning. I prepare an agenda for each session based on the student's goals and their curriculum/syllabi, and I send over additional resources following the session. I rely on feedback from my students (and parents, where applicable) to provide them with the best support possible.

For Middle/High School Students:
I have helped students with English, History, Speech and Debate (emphasis on Parliamentary and Public Forum styles), Government, Economics, and Math through AP Statistics/AP Calculus AB. I've worked with students aged 12-18 online and in-person, both one-on-one and in small groups. I have also helped students write successful college application essays that helped them get into top-10 universities.

For College Students:
I have worked as a teaching assistant and grader for courses in Sociology, Public Policy, Political Science, and Economics. I specialize in helping students develop college-level writing and research skills for the humanities and social sciences. I can provide detailed feedback on papers and projects, and help you build confidence in your work. I am also able to assist with coding in R for Economics and Statistics.
