Non-Native Speaker Who Mastered the SAT | Columbia Grad

I'm a recent graduate of the dual BA program between Columbia University and Sciences Po Paris, where I studied Economics and Political Science. I grew up in the French school system and took the SAT as a non-native English speaker, with no background in American-style standardized tests. I know firsthand how intimidating the reading and writing section can feel when English is not your first language, and that experience shapes how I teach.

I have been tutoring for over four years, one on one and in small groups, mostly with students aged 11 to 18. From 2024 to 2025, I prepared a French high school senior for both the SAT and the IELTS as part of their applications to universities outside of France. Since 2022, I have also coached seven students through the Sciences Po Paris admissions process, from cover letters to interview preparation. Six were invited to interview and five were admitted. I also tutored a struggling middle school student in math, French, history and Spanish over a full school year, and volunteered with Les Cordées de la Réussite, a French government-funded program, where I led weekly workshops for more than 150 middle schoolers.

My approach starts with a diagnostic test to identify exactly where points are being lost. From there, I build a personalized study plan that combines targeted practice on weak areas, clear strategies for each question type, and timed practice to build pacing and confidence. After each practice set, we review every mistake together so the student understands why the right answer is right. For IELTS, I put extra focus on writing and speaking, where detailed feedback makes the biggest difference. I can also help with essays and application strategy for US and international universities.
