I’m a literacy specialist and educator with an M.Ed. in Reading Education from the University of Georgia and 5+ years of experience working with students in grades 3–5 in the U.S. and internationally. My background spans IB education, multilingual learners, structured literacy, and data-driven intervention, giving me a pretty uncommon perspective on how children learn and where they can get stuck.
Most recently, I taught at an International Baccalaureate school in Texas, where I designed and taught inquiry-based curriculum across multiple grade levels. Before that, I taught Grade 1 in Shanghai in an international IB school, working with multilingual learners navigating both academic content and English. I’ve also worked extensively with students who needed more targeted literacy support, including through my graduate training in the science of reading, phonics, fluency, comprehension, and dyslexia-informed instruction.
My approach is highly individualized. I don’t believe in simply assigning more worksheets or drilling a child until something sticks. I start by figuring out what is actually getting in the way, whether that’s a foundational reading gap, difficulty organizing ideas, comprehension, executive functioning, confidence, or simply a mismatch between how a child is being taught and how they learn best. From there, I build a targeted plan, measure progress, and adjust as we go.
I also place a high value on the parent relationship. Families should never have to wonder whether tutoring is actually making a difference. I communicate clearly, track meaningful progress, and make sure parents understand not only what we are working on, but why.
My goal is bigger than helping a student get through tonight’s homework. I want children to become more capable, confident, independent learners, while giving parents the peace of mind that their child is in exceptionally capable hands.
