Hi there! I'm a recent Columbia University grad (MA, Political Science, international relations focus) and did my undergrad at UC Berkeley, double-majoring in Political Science and Law with a minor in Journalism. My tutoring background centers on writing, editing, and research methodology. As News Director at Berkeley's college radio station, I designed journalism curriculum to build students' editorial and proofreading skills. Through my journalism minor, I edited for newspaper programs through incarcerated journalism initiatives, working one-on-one with adult writers on voice and structure. I also tutored English for high-school students for a year, so I've worked across ages and skill levels, from teens to adult writers.
For essay writing and thesis development, I focus on helping students nail down and strengthen their core argument first, then work outward to paragraph organization and finally sentence-level clarity. I use techniques like reverse outlining and read-aloud editing so students learn to catch issues themselves. Social sciences, criminal justice, and government are areas I engage with daily in my developing career. I currently work part-time as a Researcher and Strategist at a criminal justice policy and advocacy firm. In my work, I emphasize verifying claims across sources, mapping arguments into premises and evidence, and connecting theory to how policy and institutions actually function. I believe these skills are what turn students into confident, self-empowered learners. Looking forward to meeting you!
