Hi! I'm Toby, a Georgetown University School of Foreign Service graduate and University of Cambridge graduate with extensive experience teaching and tutoring students aged 5 to 19. I graduated from Georgetown with a Master of Science in Foreign Service with Distinction and from Cambridge in Spanish and Russian with First Class Honors; the highest undergraduate degree classification in the UK. I am a native English speaker and fluent in Spanish, Russian and Portuguese, and I offer tutoring in Spanish, English, Russian, Maths, History, Literature, Debate, Public Speaking, College Admissions and Interview Preparation.
I have taught Spanish, English, interview preparation and communication skills, both individually and in structured teaching settings. I also coached competitive debate from 2021 to 2024, designing workshops, creating lesson plans and providing individual feedback. I represented Cambridge at international debating competitions, competed at the World and European Universities Debating Championships, and have judged at the World Universities Debating Championships. These experiences have given me a particular interest in helping students develop clear communication, critical thinking, confidence and persuasive writing and speaking skills.

I can also help students navigate the college admissions process, including developing application strategies, preparing for interviews and presenting their academic interests and strengths effectively. Having studied in both the US and UK, I can offer insight into both education systems, including for students applying internationally. My approach is tailored to each student: I focus on explaining concepts clearly, identifying areas for improvement and giving students practical strategies they can apply independently.
