Hello,
I’m Lucky. I’m earning my Master’s in Museum Studies through CUNY SPS because taking complex concepts and making them accessible is important to me. Learning should be fun and for the sake of knowledge, not rooted in stress. On the Knack platform, I tutored 60+ Fordham students in science, math, and core courses both virtually and in person.
At Fordham, I double majored in Physics and English (with a concentration in Creative Writing) and was in the Honors program. I participated in a summer research program at Notre Dame where I was in a Galactic Archaeology research group and am a coauthor on a paper detailing the results of the project, which has been submitted to Nature Communications.
In the classroom, I was a teacher's assistant for 50+ 5th-8th graders during the school year, and 100+ rising 8th graders over three summer programs.
I have volunteered 250+ hours for the New York Marine Rescue Center in both the education center - where I teach guests of all ages, backgrounds, and education levels - and in the hospital, where I work hands-on with the sea turtles and seals. Not only is it the most fulfilling experience of my life, it has also refined my educator skills. I am highly adept at switching vocabulary levels, comparisons, and teaching styles to ensure information is clear and accessible to visitors, while still using terminology that maintains accuracy during discovery-based learning. I have refined the engaging tone for talking to children, that doesn't talk down to them, but lets them know that their questions are important.
I’m a writer and a photographer. In the Creative Writing Concentration, I took several writing courses and craft classes, and participated in several writing workshop groups. I’ve spent the time since undergrad studying the craft and critique swapping with other writers as I edit my manuscript, Johnny Outlaw: The Man With No Past. As a photographer, I take professional headshots and pictures of merchandise that are used for company advertisements.
