Veteran History Educator & Former Head of School — 30+ Years in the Classroom

I have spent over thirty years teaching in private high schools, where I taught Global History, AP US History, AP US Government and AP European History. My academic background includes a Master of Arts in History from Touro College, a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Toronto, and School Leadership Certificates from Harvard University. This combination of historical training and Judaic scholarship allows me to teach history, literature, and Jewish studies with both academic rigor and genuine depth.

Throughout my career, I have worked extensively with students of varying abilities and learning styles, including students integrated from specialized programs into mainstream classrooms. I built a fully digital, interactive History curriculum from scratch, and regularly adapted complex historical and textual material so that students at every level could access and engage with it meaningfully.

As a Head of School and Academic Principal for many years, I also coached other teachers on differentiated instruction and worked closely with parents and support staff to set individual academic goals and track student progress, experience that shaped how I approach one-on-one tutoring today.

My tutoring style is patient, structured, and responsive to how each student actually learns rather than a one-size-fits-all approach. I particularly enjoy working one-on-one with individual students, where I can focus entirely on their specific needs and pace rather than managing a full classroom. I have taught students ranging from middle schoolers through high school seniors, in classroom settings of 30 students as well as in small groups and individualized instruction.

Whether the subject is history, English literature, or text study, I focus on building genuine comprehension and confidence, helping students move from struggling with material to engaging with it independently and with curiosity.

Interview Prep

Interview Prep

As a Head of School and Executive Director for over three decades, I have personally interviewed hundreds, if not thousands, of candidates across teaching, administrative, and professional roles, giving me a rare, insider's understanding of what hiring managers are really listening for beneath a candidate's answers. I know how to help you translate your experience into clear, compelling responses, anticipate tough or unexpected questions, and avoid the common missteps that quietly cost candidates the job. Our sessions focus on realistic mock interviews tailored to your specific industry and role, honest feedback, and practical strategies for presenting yourself with confidence and authenticity. Whether you're navigating a career change, returning to the workforce, or aiming for a competitive role in today's job market, I'll help you walk into that interview prepared and self-assured.
Regents

Regents

I have taught high school history for over three decades, including Global History and AP European History, with extensive experience preparing students specifically for New York State Regents examinations. In addition to teaching Regents-level courses, I have also served as an official grader for Regents history exams for many years, giving me firsthand insight into exactly how these exams are scored and what graders look for in a strong response. This dual perspective, as both a classroom teacher and an exam grader, allows me to teach students not just the content but the specific skills and essay structures that earn full credit. My approach focuses on building strong historical analysis and writing skills so students walk into their Regents exams confident and well-prepared.
