I have always had a passion for mathematics and helping others succeed. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Morgan State University and my Master of Science in Mathematics Education (Grades 7–12) from Lehman College. I recently completed my third year as a middle school mathematics teacher with the New York City Department of Education and currently hold a Transitional B teaching certificate, which will be updated after my graduate program.
I began tutoring one-on-one at age 15 and have continued working with students ever since. I have supported learners in tutoring, small groups, summer school, and classroom settings, and I have also worked with NY Edge as a Tutor, Counselor, Assistant Director, and Director. Across these experiences, I have taught more than 300 students over the past three years.
My teaching philosophy focuses on making math meaningful and accessible. I connect concepts to real-life experiences and prior knowledge so students understand the purpose behind the math. I also emphasize strong problem-solving skills and teach strategies that help students think critically and work through challenges independently.
I bring high energy and enthusiasm to every lesson, using movement, visuals, games, and friendly competition to keep students engaged. I also build strong relationships with my students and create a supportive environment where they feel comfortable asking questions.
I specialize in Elementary Math, Pre-Algebra, Algebra, and College Algebra. I create personalized, engaging lessons designed to strengthen skills, build confidence, and support long-term success in mathematics.
