About Juan

Bio

I am a current medical student with several years of experience tutoring students from high school through college. Before medical school, I worked as an academic tutor and chemistry workshop leader, supporting students in general chemistry, organic chemistry, and biology through both one on one tutoring and structured classroom style review sessions. I also earned strong academic honors during college, including graduating cum laude and being named to the Dean's List.

My tutoring experience includes working with high school students, college students, and students from underrepresented communities. I have helped students strengthen their understanding of difficult science topics, improve their confidence, and develop better approaches to studying and problem-solving. My background in medical school gives me a strong foundation in biology, chemistry, genetics, pharmacology, and other biomedical sciences.

My tutoring approach is individualized to each students learning needs, current foundation, and goals. I adjust each session based on whether a student needs concept review, visual explanations, step by step problem solving, test taking strategies, or guided practice. My goal is to help students feel more prepared for class and exams while building skills they can continue using beyond our sessions.

Approved Subjects

Genetics

Genetics

I am a current medical student with a strong foundation in genetics, biology, and the biomedical sciences. My medical training has strengthened my understanding of inheritance patterns, gene expression, molecular biology, and how genetics connects to human health and disease. I also have prior experience tutoring college level science courses, including biology and chemistry. My goal is to help students understand genetics clearly by adapting explanations to their learning style, background, and course goals.
MCAT

MCAT

I am a third year medical student who successfully completed the MCAT and used that exam as part of my admission to medical school. Because I am now in medical school, I have continued to build on the same foundational sciences tested on the MCAT, including biology, general chemistry, organic chemistry, biochemistry, psychology, and critical analysis. Before medical school, I also tutored college level science courses, including general chemistry, organic chemistry, and biology, and worked as a chemistry workshop leader. This gave me experience explaining difficult concepts, guiding students through practice problems, and helping students improve their study strategies. For MCAT tutoring, I focus on helping students identify content gaps, understand high yield science concepts, and apply those concepts to passage-based questions. My approach is individualized to each student’s learning style, current score range, goals, and timeline.
Pharmacology

Pharmacology

I am a current medical student with medical school coursework in pharmacology and a strong foundation in the biomedical sciences. Through my studies, I have learned drug mechanisms, therapeutic uses, adverse effects, and how medications affect different body systems. I also have experience tutoring college level science courses, which helps me explain complex material clearly and adapt to each student’s learning needs. My goal is to help students approach pharmacology systematically by connecting mechanisms of action to clinical concepts and exam style questions.
Regents

Regents

I was born and raised in New York and have firsthand experience with the New York State Regents exam system. I earned scores above 90 on Regents exams across core subjects, including math, history, and science. As a current medical student with prior tutoring experience, I can help students review content, practice exam-style questions, and build stronger test-taking strategies. My tutoring approach is individualized to each student’s learning style, current foundation, and goals.
