I am an experienced educator with over five years of teaching English Language Arts and Social Studies to middle school students in New York City. I hold a bachelor’s degree in Media and Communications from SUNY Old Westbury and am currently pursuing a Master of Public Administration at Pace University with a focus on nonprofit and public sector leadership. I have also successfully passed the New York State Educating All Students (EAS) certification exam, which reflects my ability to support diverse learners and create inclusive learning environments.
Throughout my teaching career, I have worked primarily with 5th through 7th grade students in both classroom and small-group settings. I have taught in charter school networks where I designed and delivered rigorous, standards-aligned lessons, tracked student data, and led targeted interventions to close learning gaps. My approach to tutoring is rooted in building strong foundational skills, especially in reading comprehension, writing, and critical thinking. I use strategies such as guided questioning, modeling, and step-by-step scaffolding to help students break down complex texts and develop confident, independent thinking.
In addition to whole-class instruction, I have experience working one-on-one with students who need additional academic support, including English language learners and students with varying learning needs. I prioritize creating a supportive and engaging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and taking academic risks. My goal as a tutor is not only to improve academic performance but also to build confidence, strengthen problem-solving skills, and help students develop a deeper understanding of the material.
