I graduated summa cum laude from the University of Michigan and obtained my PhD from Columbia University after studying chemical engineering at both institutions. I have five years of tutoring experience teaching a wide range of middle school and high school math courses as well as high school chemistry and physics.
I know firsthand the drawbacks of being in a classroom setting where you don't fully understand the topic and either the teacher does not have time to fully address your question or you just might be too embarrassed to keep saying you don't understand. I make it a priority to make sure someone truly understands the basic principles before moving on. I also emphasize that no question is "stupid" or worth glancing over because these issues only snowball later on. Using real world analogies have also been a major part of helping my students solve questions that at first seem confusing.
I'm always open to suggestions that students or parents have with regards to tools or approaches if it means the student will be able to grasp a topic better. Feel free to reach out with questions. I hope I can help you excel in your studies and possibly get even more interested in STEM!
