Hi there, I'm Kayla! I recently graduated from McGill University with my Bachelor's in Cognitive Science, concentrating in Neuroscience, and my minor in Art History. Before college, I attended Brooklyn Technical High School, where I took NY Regents exams and several AP Exams, receiving scores of 5. I've also scored highly on standardized tests including the SAT (1550) and the LSAT (167).
Though I've studied STEM for several years, I didn't always find it intuitive. I learned to develop a methodical, strategy-focused approach that breaks down complex topics into manageable parts. I bring this approach to my tutoring, emphasizing clear explanations and practical test-taking strategies to help students feel more confident as they go into exams.
I started tutoring in high school, where I worked with students in levels 1-3 and AP French, and continued in college as a peer tutor in science, history, and English courses. Alongside my science background, I also love writing and the humanities. My journalism and academic writing has been published in art magazines, student newspapers and academic journals. I can offer help to students on their college essays or other writing assignments so they can develop refined arguments and improve the clarity and structure of their writing.
