I hold a Bachelor of Arts in English and Education, with dual minors in Special Education and Adolescent Education, as well as a Master’s degree in Foundations of Social Advocacy with a specialization in Special Education. My educational background has provided me with a strong foundation in literacy, instruction, advocacy, and differentiated support for diverse learners.
I have about ten years of teaching experience across middle and high school settings, with a strong focus on supporting students with varying academic needs. I have taught both math and English Language Arts, and I currently work in a high school setting in special education leadership while continuing to provide direct instructional support. My teaching experience includes classroom instruction, small-group support, and one-on-one intervention. I have also worked with students in specialized settings, including those who require academic scaffolding, individualized learning plans, and social-emotional support.
My instructional approach is student-centered, structured, and supportive. I believe in meeting students where they are academically and building their confidence through clear modeling, guided practice, repetition, and targeted feedback. I use differentiated strategies based on each student’s strengths and needs, including scaffolds, visual supports, guided questioning, and step-by-step instruction. My goal is always to create a learning environment where students feel capable, supported, and motivated to grow.
Most of my experience has been with middle school and high school students, including adolescents in both general education and special education settings. I have worked in classroom environments, push-in and pull-out support models, and individualized tutoring-style settings. My experience also includes mentoring students, supporting executive functioning and organization, and helping learners build both academic skills and self-confidence over time.
