Hi! My name is Ms. C., and I am a certified math teacher with a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from the College of the Holy Cross and a Master’s in Math Education from the University of Notre Dame. I am currently a Math Teacher at Avenues: The World School in New York City, and this is my third year as a full-time classroom teacher and my 8th year working as a math tutor. I have experience teaching and tutoring students across a wide range of levels—from upper elementary through high school—including Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, Geometry, and Algebra II. In addition to my classroom experience, I have taught internationally and worked with students from diverse academic backgrounds, which has strengthened my ability to adapt instruction to different learning styles and needs.
As a tutor, my approach is patient, structured, and highly individualized. I believe that every student can be successful in math when given the right support and clear explanations. I focus not only on helping students master current content, but also on strengthening foundational skills and building long-term confidence. I prioritize creating a comfortable environment where students feel safe asking questions and making mistakes. Whether we are preparing for an upcoming test, catching up on missed concepts, or working to get ahead, I aim to make each session focused, encouraging, and productive. My goal is for students to leave each lesson feeling more capable, more confident, and better equipped to tackle challenges independently.
