Based in Brooklyn, New York, Mike is an accomplished jazz musician, educator, and multi-instrumentalist with over thirteen years of professional performance experience. Active both in New York City and internationally, he has toured extensively and performed alongside many of today’s leading musicians, bringing a deep, real-world perspective to his work as an educator.
An experienced teacher for over eleven years, Mike has taught private students of all ages and skill levels, both in person and online. His teaching experience includes adjunct instruction in improvisation and jazz repertoire at SUNY Purchase College, as well as work with Jazz Empowers, an after-school program serving elementary through high school students. In these roles, he guided students in reading music, developing improvisational fluency, and understanding jazz language, often teaching across multiple instruments to meet students’ needs.
A versatile multi-instrumentalist, Mike performs on saxophones, guitar, drums, trumpet, flugelhorn, clarinet, and flute. He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Music Performance with a concentration in Jazz Studies from SUNY Purchase College, where he attended on scholarship. His teaching philosophy emphasizes musical curiosity, technical foundation, and creative expression, tailored thoughtfully to each individual student.
