Hey, I’m Samuel. With a degree in Creative Writing and five years of experience as a tutor, I specialize in one-on-one sessions with students who aim to improve their skills--and test scores--in all areas related to reading and writing. Whether we’re learning the basics of phonics and grammar, analyzing difficult literary texts and composing essays, or even preparing for tests like the ACT and SAT, I can help you.

My career began at Lindamood-Bell Learning Processes where I was instructed on how to teach the foundations of literacy to younger learners, namely: word recognition, phonics, vowel rules and expectancies, and vocabulary. During this time, I worked with many students with diagnosis including but not limited to autism spectrum disorder and dyslexia. I have also worked with adults and older students, guiding them through longer works of fiction and non-fiction to identify such things as main ideas, themes, and author's intent, aiding them in the development of their own voice and their own thoughtful, concise writing.

I believe good readers and writers make for the most thoughtful and effective communicators. Regardless of extant and oncoming technology, so long as people continue to think and perceive the world around them through the lens of language, these two skills will remain foundational.

Exceptional Writing Tutor, and very kind!!

I had an amazing tutoring session with Samuel, he helped me understand how to improve in my writing composition class, he went over every single one of my problems and helped me solve them, and he was patient and kind while helping me. He is really skilled at communicating difficult writing and reading concepts, and I learned so much from him in a short amount of time! What made me want more lessons with Samuel is how kind he is and easy to talk to, he made learning feel stress free and I ALWAYS feel anxious when it comes to my homework. I will be back!!
