I've started tutoring students since high school, where I helped various classmates of mine improve their SAT scores by over 200+ points. When it comes to standardized testing, I will assess where they are with an initial practice test, and then will target areas where they can improve later on. I have experience explaining topics from a variety of perspectives, with the ultimate goal that the student improves from understanding, not rote memorization.
During my time at university, I was a teaching assistant for various math courses. Again, I would take the same approach, trying to connect and explain topics with students in a way they would understand. I am aware that when it comes to learning, there is no one approach fits all, and I make learning as personalized as possible.
