I’ve spent more than two decades teaching children how to read, both in the classroom and one-on-one with families who needed steady, practical support. As a teacher and a mother who once helped her own struggling reader, I’ve come to realize how important clear instruction and patience are for a child’s confidence. I am a certified/licensed general and special education teacher in the New York City Public Schools and have been trained extensively in the Science of Reading, including phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension.
Most of my teaching has been with early elementary students, though I’ve also supported older readers who needed foundational skills. My work spans whole-class instruction, small groups, and individualized tutoring, and I draw on research-based, developmentally appropriate methods. I connect each lesson to what the child actually needs, using simple routines that make reading feel manageable and engaging.
Across my career as a literacy coach and tutor, I’ve helped students who were frustrated, unsure, or behind grade level find their footing again. This ensures that every child I work with receives instruction that is tailored, steady, and grounded in practices that help skills stick. My goal is always the same: to help children feel capable, supported, and proud as they grow into confident readers.
