I am an award-winning documentary filmmaker with an MFA in Social Documentary Film from the School of Visual Arts in New York City. Over the past decade, I have worked internationally as a director, editor, and producer, and my films have screened on PBS, Prime and Kanopy, and at film festivals around the world. My academic training and professional experience allow me to teach film, documentary storytelling, video production, and creative writing with clarity, precision, and passion.
I have taught and mentored students for more than five years through Un/Filmed School, a nonprofit educational program I co-founded for emerging filmmakers. I work with high school students, college students, and adults, helping them develop strong writing skills, compelling personal essays, and creative projects with structure and emotional depth. I also tutor Russian language, drawing on my background as a native speaker with experience teaching both beginners and advanced learners.
My teaching style is warm, organized, and supportive. I adapt each lesson to the student’s goals, whether we are preparing an assignment, developing a creative project, improving academic writing, or learning a new technical skill. I believe that learning works best when students feel respected, encouraged, and engaged, and I bring the same level of care and professionalism to every session.
