Hi, I’m Marcello! I’ve been tutoring for over five years, specializing in math, from algebra and geometry to precalculus, calculus, and standardized test prep (SAT, ACT, and Regents). I’ve also helped students excel in Biology, Physics, Italian, and pharmacy-related coursework and exam prep (NAPLEX), drawing on my pharmacy school background and real-world science experience.
What I love most about tutoring is helping students not only improve their grades, but also feel more confident and less anxious about the subjects that challenge them. Whether it’s math, science, or language learning, I make complex ideas clear, approachable, and even enjoyable. I’m very down-to-earth and easy to get along with. I know academic subjects, especially math and science, can feel intimidating, so I keep sessions encouraging and relaxed. Students can ask questions, make mistakes, and work through concepts without pressure. I’m focused and results-oriented, but never rigid or overwhelming. My goal is to meet students where they are and build from there, whether that means preparing for a big test, mastering advanced coursework, or supporting an IEP.
Before becoming a full-time tutor, I spent five years as a teaching assistant in both general and special education classrooms in the NYC public school system. Working one-on-one and in small groups taught me how to adapt explanations to each student’s learning style. Since then, I’ve helped high school and college students make real progress (many raise their grades significantly, and SAT students often boost their scores by 100–150 points).
Outside of tutoring, my background in finance, data analysis, and pharmacy keeps my problem-solving sharp and helps me connect abstract concepts to real-world applications. I teach remotely using Wyzant, Zoom, Google Workspace, or Microsoft Teams, making every session interactive, effective, and engaging.
My mission: to make math (and every subject I teach) feel clear, achievable, and confidence-building, no matter where you’re starting from.
