Hi, I’m Marcello! I’ve been tutoring math for over five years, covering everything from algebra and geometry to precalculus, calculus, as well as SAT, ACT, and Regents prep. What I love most about tutoring is helping students not only raise their grades but also feel more confident and less stressed about math.

I’m very down-to-earth and easy to get along with. I know math can be intimidating, so I keep my sessions encouraging and relaxed where students can ask questions, make mistakes, and work things out without pressure. I’m effective and focused, but I’m not the strict, "drill-sergeant" type. My goal is always to meet students where they are and build from there, whether that means preparing for a big test, tackling advanced coursework, or supporting an IEP.

I got my start as a teaching assistant in both general and special education classrooms in New York City (also for five years), working one-on-one and in small groups to help students strengthen their math foundations. Since then, I’ve tutored high school and college students, and most of them see real results. Many improve their grades significantly, and SAT students often raise their scores by 100–150 points.

Outside of tutoring, I have a background in finance and data analysis, which keeps my problem-solving sharp (and gives me plenty of real-world examples to connect math concepts to everyday life). I also teach remotely using Zoom, Google Workspace, or Microsoft Teams, making sessions interactive and engaging.

My overall goal is simple: to make math feel approachable, clear, and maybe even a little enjoyable- no matter where you’re starting from.

ACT Math

ACT Math

I bring over ten years of experience teaching mathematics as both a teaching assistant and a private tutor, with a strong track record of helping students succeed on the ACT. The ACT Math section requires not only content mastery but also efficiency, and I equip my students with the tools to excel at both. By breaking down complex topics into clear, manageable steps and practicing time-saving strategies, I help students maximize their scores. My personalized instruction adapts to each student’s needs, whether that means strengthening core skills, fine-tuning advanced concepts, or building the confidence to perform at their best on test day.
Algebra 1

Algebra 1

I have been teaching and tutoring algebra for over ten years, helping students build strong skills and confidence in this essential subject. Algebra 1 is the foundation for so much of mathematics, and I break it down into simple, logical steps that make sense. My approach is supportive and easygoing; I’m down-to-earth, approachable, and never overly strict. Students often tell me they feel more comfortable asking questions and learning at their own pace with me. Together, we’ll make algebra less stressful and more empowering.
Algebra 2

Algebra 2

I have a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and a master’s degree in Accounting, along with more than ten years of experience as a teacher assistant in both general and special education settings. In addition, I’ve provided private tutoring across all levels of math, including extensive work with Algebra 2 regents students. My background allows me to break down challenging Algebra 2 concepts (quadratic functions, polynomials, logarithms, systems of equations, etc.) into clear, step-by-step explanations. I focus on helping students not only master problem-solving skills but also build the confidence needed to apply these skills on tests and in future math courses. Whether a student needs support with homework, test preparation, or strengthening overall understanding, I bring patience, experience, and a strong foundation in mathematics to every session.
Calculus

Calculus

I hold a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and a master’s degree in Accounting, and I have over ten years of experience as a teacher assistant in both general and special education classrooms. In addition, I have provided private tutoring across all levels of mathematics, from foundational algebra to advanced calculus. My background gives me the ability to explain complex concepts in a clear, step-by-step way that meets each student’s unique learning style. I specialize in helping students strengthen problem-solving skills, build confidence, and prepare effectively for exams. Whether you’re working through a tough course, preparing for a test, or just aiming to improve your understanding, I bring both expertise and patience to ensure you succeed.
Geometry

Geometry

I bring over ten years of experience teaching mathematics as both a teaching assistant and private tutor, specializing in making geometry clear and approachable. From proofs and theorems to practical applications of shapes and angles, I help students see the “why” behind the math, not just the “how.” My tutoring style is relaxed and down-to-earth, so students feel comfortable and supported as they learn. I’m easy to get along with and focus on creating a positive learning environment where students can ask questions freely, build confidence, and truly understand geometry in a lasting way.
Italian

With more than a decade of experience as both a teaching assistant and private tutor, I help students master the fundamentals of prealgebra with patience and encouragement. Prealgebra sets the stage for all future math, and I take pride in making it engaging and easy to understand. I’m down-to-earth and easy to get along with, so students feel comfortable working with me - no strict or intimidating approaches here. My goal is to give every student a solid foundation, build confidence in problem-solving, and prepare them for success in higher-level math courses.
Precalculus

Precalculus

With more than a decade of experience as a teaching assistant and private tutor, I specialize in guiding students through the challenges of precalculus. From functions and polynomials to trigonometry and limits, I make complex ideas easier to understand by breaking them down clearly and connecting them to prior knowledge. I’m down-to-earth, approachable, and easy to get along with. I believe learning works best in a positive, stress-free environment, not a strict one. My goal is to help students not only succeed in precalculus but also feel confident moving forward into calculus and beyond.
Probability

Probability

With more than a decade of experience teaching mathematics as a teaching assistant and private tutor, I have developed a passion for helping students truly understand probability. Many students find probability abstract or intimidating, but my teaching approach emphasizes clarity, real-world applications, and step-by-step reasoning. Whether you’re preparing for an exam, tackling a course requirement, or simply aiming to strengthen your mathematical thinking, I’ll guide you in developing both problem-solving skills and intuitive understanding.
