I graduated summa cum laude from Amherst College in 2024 with a bachelors degree in Mathematics. My time studying concluded with Analysis and Group Theory, courses which require a deep understanding of foundational mathematical concepts like pre-algebra, algebra, and calculus. I also spent a semester abroad at Trinity College Dublin where I studied geometry from Euclid's original text. While in college, I worked as a Math Fellow, holding twice-weekly office hours to help students in "Introduction to Calculus" and "Mathematical Proofs and Reasoning." In this role, I worked closely with students from a variety of backgrounds to help them understand class content and work through homework.
I have been working as a freelance math tutor in the New York area since September. I have primarily worked with middle school and high school students taking pre-algebra, algebra, and pre-calculus. Informed by my time assisting with "Mathematical Reasoning", my teaching philosophy is grounded in clarity, patience, and empowerment. Beyond subject mastery, I aim to instill my students with a mathematical mindset and approach to problem solving that will equip them to tackle all kinds of challenges.
