I have been a private tutor for the last four years covering a broad range of subjects at the high school and college level. To get to this point I focused hard on my own academics to develop a solid foundation of fundamental knowledge in various disciplines that I could build from. I pursued an undergraduate degree in Finance and afterwards an MBA. This exposed me to numerous fields and courses within Business. As a graduate student I focused my electives on Data Analysis to refine hard skills that would support the theory I was studying in my required courses. Throughout, I minored in fields including English and Philosophy. In order to balance every class I had to create an approach to studying that suited me. This was perhaps one of the more important things I learned during my academic experiences. The various classes I took built a foundation of knowledge, exposing me to different types of courses and strategies for understanding each. This has helped significantly during my work as a tutor.
I started working professionally as a content coach four years ago. I mainly work with high school seniors and undergraduate students in college. I initially provided assistance with courses directly related to my degree work including Finance, Marketing, and Economics. Since then I have evolved and expanded my coverage to include English and Literature, Philosophy, and Math, among others. My professional experience thus far has been concentrated to one on one meetings so that I could provide the best possible tutelage. Throughout my career I have employed various teaching methods and strategies to help my clients excel. The one I found most helpful, both for myself during my own studies and my previous clients, is reduction. This approach focuses on breaking down complex projects and problems into manageable pieces that could be better organized and solved individually. Using this approach and effective scaffolding, I have found tangible success that goes beyond the classroom.
