Hello!
My name is Jaya. I am a graduate of Barnard College with degrees in Computer Science and English (Creative Writing), and have spent several years working at the intersection between journalism and technology before winning a Fulbright grant to teach English at the University of Málaga in Spain. There, I taught and planned classes for Spanish students both at the university and in private one-on-one lessons. But my teaching experience spans the length of my career: I volunteered teaching computer science at a high school in Brooklyn, worked as a teaching assistant in college, and my first-ever job was working as a tutor at Kumon.
My approach to teaching is tailored to each student and their specific needs and objectives. In general, though, I aim to make my lessons both creative and practical, focused on reaching educational goals and desired outcomes. I am always open to feedback, suggestions, or additional learning resources that students or parents might find useful. Feel free to contact me with any questions or to schedule your first lesson!
