I'm a full-time professor at a top public research university, where I teach computational and media arts to artists and designers. With over 20 years of university teaching experience, I specialize in helping students build both technical skills and creative confidence. My background includes a BS from Georgetown University’s Walsh School of Foreign Service and an MFA from UCLA in Design Media Arts.
I’m experienced in teaching coding (Processing, HTML/CSS), creative software (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere, Audition), and critical/creative thinking for artistic production. I’ve taught college students, older adults, and high school students, and I personalize each lesson to match the learner’s goals and experience level.
My teaching is hands-on and iterative: students learn by doing, reflecting, and refining. One-on-one tutorial and critique—core to the creative studio tradition—is my strength, and I’m especially skilled at making complex or abstract concepts understandable for beginners.
During the summer, my schedule is more flexible, and I’m happy to offer tutoring for students or professionals looking to build skills, explore creative tools, or prepare for portfolio submissions. For high school students applying to college art and design programs, I can provide mentorship that supports the development of original, authentic work—helping them articulate their ideas clearly and confidently while strengthening both concept and craft.
This tutoring is offered in a private capacity and is not affiliated with any university program or admissions process.
