Hi, I'm Dora! I am a recent graduate from Harvard University with an Honors degree in Social Studies with a secondary field in Psychology and a language citation in Spanish. I am passionate about the power of education and believe that cultivating confidence and willingness to learn is the key to academic success.
My tutoring and teaching experiences have given me a broad range of skills and insights into effective instruction and mentoring. As an English Teaching Assistant with the Fulbright U.S. Student Program in Spain, I created dynamic lesson plans for students ranging in age and English proficiency. I collaborated with fellow educators to design curriculum, foster cross-cultural connections, and promote language acquisition in engaging ways. This experience reinforced my ability to adapt my teaching style to meet students' needs, a skill I have also honed while in my freelance work as a college admissions essay mentor and through years of online tutoring with middle and high school students in Spanish, English, social studies, and mathematics. In addition to my studies, I earned a certification in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) in August 2023, further expanding my teaching toolkit to help students thrive.
I enjoy tutoring all age groups from K-12. With high schoolers, I specialize in college essay writing/ admissions prep, SAT/ACT, English, Spanish, history, and economics. With elementary and middle schoolers, I feel confident tutoring all subjects, including math and science.
I believe every student is different, and I look forward to the opportunity to forming a unique relationship with each of my students. I believe a good teacher is one who looks to learn from their students.
