Hi, I am Valecia. I am an honors graduate of Mico University College in Kingston, Jamaica, where I majored in Teacher Education and specialized in Guidance and Counseling. I am a recent graduate of Monroe College Bronx, USA, earning a Summa Cum Laude Bachelor's degree in Human Services. I have a passion for the English Language. My early background in the Jamaican classroom as a student with excellent Grammar teachers has pushed me to want to see my students excel in writing, reading, and reasoning. I had some very strict lecturers at Monroe College who would deduct points for grammar and spelling, which pushed me so much harder to ensure my work was almost errorless. The high standards set out by my lecturers and foundation teachers are those I will set for my students. I am compassionate, and dedicated and will work with my students to achieve high. I realize that everyone does not have the same learning style or pace, so I will make myself available to talk, listen, and make changes as we go.
I have taught at state-run homeschool, children of various ages in the same group for more than two years. Some were also on the autism spectrum, but, with love compassion, and hard work, I was privileged to see many of them venture out into the public school system where they fit in with the school population and were successful.
