've always enjoyed helping students realize that math isn't about memorizing formulas—it's about learning how to think through problems with confidence. I earned my Master's degree in Actuarial Science from Columbia University and my Bachelor's degree in Mathematics and Economics from St. Lawrence University, and I am an Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA). For more than seven years, I served as a Teaching Associate at Columbia University, where I worked closely with graduate students in actuarial science and quantitative finance. Along the way, I've also gained industry experience as an actuarial consultant, using mathematical modeling, data analysis, and financial concepts to solve real-world business challenges. These experiences have strengthened both my technical knowledge and my ability to explain difficult topics in a way that students can understand.

I have spent the past decade tutoring students from middle school through graduate school, as well as professionals looking to strengthen their quantitative skills. Whether we're working on Algebra, Calculus, SAT Math, Statistics, actuarial science, Excel, R, or another quantitative subject, I adapt each lesson to the student's learning style and goals. I believe the best tutoring happens when students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and building confidence one concept at a time. My goal is not only to help you improve your grades or test scores, but also to develop the problem-solving skills and analytical thinking that will continue to benefit you long after our sessions are over. I look forward to helping you reach your goals and making even the most challenging topics feel manageable.

Approved Subjects

Actuarial Science

Actuarial Science

My experience stems from having an M.S. in Actuarial Science from Columbia University. I am a certified actuary with an Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA). I have passed six exams including P, FM, MFE, C, LTAM and PA, as well all my ASA modules. I have been a teaching associate at Columbia University for the last seven years.
Algebra 1

Algebra 1

I have over seven years of experience teaching and tutoring mathematics to students of all skill levels. My approach focuses on helping students understand the "why" behind each concept so they can solve problems confidently on their own. I break down topics such as equations, graphing, functions, inequalities, and word problems into simple, manageable steps. My goal is to help students improve both their grades and their confidence in math.
Algebra 2

Algebra 2

Algebra II builds the foundation for higher-level mathematics, and I specialize in making challenging topics accessible. I help students master quadratics, logarithms, exponential functions, polynomials, complex numbers, and trigonometric fundamentals through clear explanations and plenty of practice. My teaching style emphasizes pattern recognition and problem-solving strategies that carry over into future math courses. Students leave sessions understanding concepts instead of simply memorizing formulas.
Calculus

Calculus

Calculus becomes much easier when students understand the underlying concepts instead of memorizing procedures. I teach limits, derivatives, integrals, optimization, related rates, and applications using intuitive explanations that connect the mathematics to real-world problems. My extensive mathematics and actuarial background allows me to explain both computational techniques and the theory behind them. I strive to build confidence while helping students develop strong analytical thinking skills.
Precalculus

Precalculus

Precalculus connects algebra and trigonometry to prepare students for success in calculus. I help students develop a strong understanding of functions, trigonometry, vectors, sequences, conic sections, and analytic geometry while emphasizing conceptual understanding. My mathematical background and teaching experience allow me to explain difficult topics in multiple ways until they make sense. I also focus on developing strong problem-solving skills that make the transition into calculus much smoother.
SAT Math

SAT Math

I help students maximize their SAT Math scores by combining strong mathematical instruction with proven test-taking strategies. We focus on identifying common question patterns, improving speed and accuracy, and avoiding the mistakes that cost valuable points. My sessions include targeted practice, efficient solution methods, and personalized feedback based on each student's strengths and weaknesses. Whether you're aiming for a y00 or an 800, I'll help you develop a structured plan to reach your goal.
